5 Craft Beer Bars in Södermalm, Stockholm
If you’re in Stockholm for the craft beer scene, you’ll be spending a lot of time in Södermalm. These five places are only a selection of the places you can go, so use this as a guide to start you out and have fun exploring!
Omnipollos Hatt, Craft Beer and Pizza
Omnipollos Hatt is located at Hökens gata 1A, just off Götgatan near the Slussen subway stop. They have 10 taps, mostly their own beers with a few beers from other Swedish breweries and/or Omnipollo collaborators in the mix. This list typically includes at least one sour beer served slushy-style and at least one imperial stout, and they’re good at keeping their minimalist website updated with the current beers on tap. They also have a few non-alcoholic beers and other non-alcoholic options. In addition to beer, Omnipollos Hatt serves fantastic pizza – in fact, people often come here just for the pizza at lunchtime. They open every day at noon, and it's a small space that can get crowded fast, especially on weekend evenings. You’re most likely to find a table earlier in the afternoon on weekdays.
Stigbergets Fot, Craft Beer and Burgers
Stigbergets Fot is just down the street from Omnipollos Hatt at Götgatan 5. They open at 4:00 pm Monday-Wednesday, 11:30 am Thursday-Friday, and noon on weekends and offer a large selection of Stigbergets beers plus a variety of other local and international craft beers. Their food menu, mainly burgers and bar snacks, is a collaboration with Barrels Burgers & Beer, and they also serve a selection of wines. Stigbergets Fot is usually crowded, so you may have to wait for a table – check out the bar seating facing the window toward Götgatan, that can be a good spot to find an empty seat or two.
Akkurat, Craft Beer and Whiskey
Akkurat, located at Hornsgatan 18, has more of an old-fashioned pub vibe, with the mission of serving the best beers from small craft breweries. They open at 11:00 Monday-Friday, 1:00 pm Saturday, and 3:00 pm Sunday. The selection of beer is international, with some from Sweden, a lot from Belgium, and a variety from other countries too. Akkurat is also a whiskey bar, with almost 400 different kinds according to their website. They’re usually crowded, and it can be difficult to find a table or even a place at the bar. Getting there just after they open can help, or they do take reservations for dinner, which is traditional Swedish food.
BrewDog Södermalm
BrewDog Södermalm, near the Skanstull subway stop at Ringvägen 149B, opens at 4:00 pm on weekdays and 2:00 pm on weekends. In addition to serving a variety of BrewDog beers, they have a selection of local and international craft beer. They also have burgers and other bar snacks with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. BrewDog can get crowded later in the evening, but it’s generally easier to get a table if you go earlier.
Beer n’ Play, Craft Beer and Games
Beer n’ Play is in the Hornstull area of Södermalm, on Hornsgatan 138, and opens at 4:00 pm Monday-Thursday, 3:00 pm Friday, and 1:00 pm on weekends. They offer a large selection of local and international craft beer, burgers and pizza including vegetarian and vegan options, and the unique feature of this place is the games. Beer n’ Play has shuffleboard, pool, air hockey, Skee-Ball, various arcade games, and various board games (the board games are free to play, the others have a small additional cost). A fun place to hang out!
So, if you find yourself in Stockholm with a thirst for top-notch craft beer, look no further than Södermalm for a diverse and vibrant selection of places. Cheers to an unforgettable beer adventure!
