Norrmalm, in the center of Stockholm, has plenty of shopping, museums, and other tourist activities, but it’s not really where you would think of going to try a lot of different craft beer bars (that would be Södermalm).  However, there are actually a few good options if you find yourself in Norrmalm, waiting for a delayed train out of Central Station, for example, and looking for something more than your standard “stor stark.”

The Bishops Arms Vasagatan, Vasagatan 7, is just outside of Central Station, so this is a great place to go if you want to stay close.  Because of that, it can sometimes be crowded.  They open at 11:00 am on weekdays and noon on weekends, and unlike most Swedish bars, they’re open 365 days a year.  They have a large selection of beer, including some interesting things in bottles and cans.

The Flying Dog, located at Vasagatan 52, opens at 3:00 pm Sunday-Thursday and 1:00 pm Friday-Saturday and serve a variety of craft beers, both local and international, so there is always a lot to choose from.  They also have a large selection of whiskeys if that’s your thing.
