Östermalm is best known for high-end shops, fine-dining restaurants, and nightclubs, all fun activities for special occasions, but if you’re looking to spend the day in this Stockholm neighborhood on a budget, here are a couple of suggestions that are also fun.

Mr. Cake in Stockholm

The concept of Mr. Cake, located at Rådmansgatan 12, is American bakery meets Swedish fika.  They serve colorful cakes, a variety of Swedish and American pastries, pancakes, sandwiches, and salads.  Mr. Cake opens 7:30 am on weekdays and 9:00 am on weekends, and some dishes are only available in the morning while others are only available in the afternoon, so check their website for details on that.  Cakes and pastries are available all day long, and this is also a good place for dessert or fika whenever it suits your schedule!

Omnipollo has a brewery in Sundbyberg and a bar/pizza place in Södermalm, but did you know that they also have an outdoor beer garden/ice cream place in Östermalm?  Omnipollos Flora is in Humlegården park and only open in the spring and summer.  In those seasons, they open at noon every day, weather permitting.  They have burgers including vegetarian and vegan options, homemade soft-serve ice cream in creative colors and flavors, and of course a selection of Omnipollo beers on tap.

So, whether you’re into brunch, craft beer, ice cream, or all three, you can find your new favorite place in Östermalm!

Plus, there are lots of other fun things to do in Stockholm, including but not limited to visiting local breweries, enjoying a craft beer festival, hanging out in craft beer bars in Södermalm or Norrmalm, visiting Skansen or Java Whiskers cat café, or checking out locations where movies were filmed.

Depending on which season you’re visiting, Stockholm is a great coolcation destination in the summer, and it’s also a good place to enjoy a julbord before Christmas or celebrate New Year’s Eve.
