Omnipollos Hatt in Stockholm

Omnipollos Hatt: A Craft Beer and Pizza Oasis

Omnipollos Hatt is located at Hökens gata 1A, just off Götgatan near the Slussen subway stop.  They have 10 taps, mostly their own beers with a few beers from other Swedish breweries and/or Omnipollo collaborators in the mix.  This list typically includes at least one sour beer served slushy-style and at least one imperial stout, and they’re good at keeping their minimalist website updated with the current beers on tap.  They also have a few non-alcoholic beers and other non-alcoholic options.  In addition to beer, Omnipollos Hatt serves fantastic pizza – in fact, people often come here just for the pizza at lunchtime.  They open every day at noon, and it's a small space that can get crowded fast, especially on weekend evenings.  You’re most likely to find a table earlier in the afternoon on weekdays.

Stigbergets Fot in Stockholm

Stigbergets Fot: Where Craft Beer and Burgers Unite

Stigbergets Fot is just down the street from Omnipollos Hatt at Götgatan 5.  They open at 4:00 pm Monday-Wednesday and noon Thursday-Sunday and offer a large selection of Stigbergets beers plus a variety of other local and international craft beers.  Their food menu, mainly burgers and bar snacks, is a collaboration with Barrels Burgers & Beer, and they also serve a selection of wines.  Stigbergets Fot is usually crowded, so you may have to wait for a table – check out the bar seating facing the window toward Götgatan, that can be a good spot to find an empty seat or two.

Akkurat in Stockholm

Akkurat: The Cozy Craft Beer and Whiskey Haven

Akkurat, located at Hornsgatan 18, has more of an old-fashioned pub vibe, with the mission of serving the best beers from small craft breweries.  They open at 4:00 pm Monday-Thursday, 3:00 pm Friday, 1:00 pm Saturday, and 3:00 pm Sunday.  The selection of beer is international, with some from Sweden, a lot from Belgium, and a variety from other countries too.  Akkurat is also a whiskey bar, with almost 400 different kinds according to their website.  They’re usually crowded, and it can be difficult to find a table or even a place at the bar.  Getting there just after they open can help, or they do take reservations for dinner, which is traditional Swedish food.

LIVS in Stockholm

LIVS: A Culinary Craft Beer Experience

LIVS, located at Bjurholmsgatan 18, is more of a restaurant than a bar, but they do have a small bar area where you can sit and have a few craft beers if you’re not eating there.  They open at 5:00 pm Tuesday-Saturday and they take reservations for dinner.  The beers on tap are a small selection of craft beer including at least a couple from Sweden, and the food is mainly small plates with some vegetarian options, so you can try a few different things.

The Whippet Lab in Stockholm

Whippet Lab & Social Justice Club: Where Craft Beer, Culinary Creativity, & Social Justice Meet

Whippet Lab & Social Justice Club, on Rutger Fuchsgatan 5 near the Skanstull subway stop, is a unique concept – as described on their website, Sweden’s first social justice restaurant and microbrew lounge.  They have a resident dog named Sherlock (other dogs also welcome) and they open at 5:00 pm Tuesday-Saturday.  The food consists of imaginative, delicious, and mostly vegetarian smaller plates (they recommend ordering 2-3).  In addition to a selection of local and international craft beers, they serve craft cocktails.  It’s a large space, so usually not a problem to get a table, but they do also take dinner reservations.  They also co-organize events with nonprofits that advocate for social justice, and they have a membership for activist networking.  Good food, good beer, and good causes.
