Where to have brunch in Södermalm, Stockholm

Looking for a good place to have brunch in Södermalm?  There are so many options in this neighborhood.  Keep reading to learn more about some of the best.

Greasy Spoon

Greasy Spoon has three locations (soon four!), two of which are in Södermalm, with the location on Tjärhovsgatan 19 closer to Medborgarplatsen and the location on Södermannagatan 53 closer to Skanstull. Both locations open at 8:00 am on weekdays and 9:00 am on weekends.  They don’t take reservations and they’re busiest after 10:00 am on weekends, so keep that in mind when planning your visit.  They usually have different weekly specials at each location, one sweet and one savory each, and you can find out what those are by checking their social media.  Greasy Spoon serves greasy spoon diner type food such as toast, eggs, pancakes, and full English breakfast that also has vegetarian and vegan versions.  Drinks include fresh juice, coffee drinks, and brunch cocktails.

 Pom & Flora

Pom & Flora has two locations, one of which is in Södermalm at Bondegatan 64.  They open at 7:00 am on weekdays and 9:00 am on weekends.  They serve a variety of vegetarian and vegan smoothie bowls, porridge, and toast.  They don’t take reservations, so you may have to wait for a table, but the food is worth it.

La Neta

La Neta’s Södermalm location is at Östgötagatan 12b at opens at 11:00 am on weekdays and 12:00 pm on weekends.  They serve what many consider the best authentic Mexican food in Sweden.  La Neta’s menu includes a variety of tacos and quesadillas plus delicious tortilla chips that you can get with equally delicious guacamole.  They don’t take reservations, but the Södermalm location is spacious enough that this is usually not a problem.

Omayma

Omayma, at Skånegatan 92, opens at 8:00 am on weekdays, 9:00 am on Saturdays, and 10:00 am on Sundays.  This is the right place to get a healthy brunch, with gluten-free, vegan, and raw options and high-quality coffee.  Think smoothie bowls, sandwiches, salads, and fika.

Kaferang

Kaferang’s Södermalm location, at Skånegatan 81, opens at 8:00 am on weekdays and 9:00 am on weekends.  Certain items are only served before 11:00 am and others only after 11:00 am, but in general, you can expect eggs, pancakes, sandwiches, and salad bowls.  Drinks include wine and local craft beer.

Pang Pang Restaurang

Pang Pang Restaurang, Pang Pang Brewery’s stylish restauant in Södermalm, serves brunch on Saturdays from 11:00 am-3:00 pm.  They’re located at Långholmsgatan 34 in Hornstull and the brunch menu includes eggs, toast, pizza, and waffles.  Dishes are small, so you may want to order two or three things if you’re hungry.  They serve a variety of Pang Pang beers to enjoy with your meal or to hang out and try afterwards.

The Bagel

The Bagel, at Västgötagatan 23, is a great place to get a bagel with cream cheese plus a variety of different toppings, including a few options with vegan cream cheese, to enjoy with a coffee drink or smoothie.  They open at 8:00 am on weekdays and 10:00 am on weekends.  You can also buy a bag of bagels to take home.

Fern & Fika

Fern & Fika is a plant-based café located at Långholmsgatan 11. They open at 9:00 am every day serve coffee drinks, sandwiches, pancakes, salads, and pastries.  Fern & Fika is near Pang Pang Restaurang in Hornstull, so maybe you could have brunch here and then go over to Pang Pang for a beer and make a whole day out of it.

There are plenty of other things to do in Södermalm after you have brunch, for example there are lots of great thrift stores such as Judits Second Hand and there’s a lively outdoor market, Hornstulls Marknad, April through September.  Explore the area and have fun!
